For people who already know what they are doing.

A solid 304 stainless steel sound with a graduated bead profile down its full length and a ring handle at the base. The beads give a distinctly different sensation from a smooth sound: each one is felt individually going in and coming out, and the ridged profile means the device makes itself known with every small movement rather than sitting neutral.

Solid steel throughout, not hollow. It has real weight, holds temperature, and can be fully sterilised in boiling water. Polished smooth with no seams, burrs, or plating to wear away.

Specifications

  • Material: 304 stainless steel, solid core
  • Total length: 13.8 inches (350mm)
  • Profile: Graduated beads with a ring handle at the base
  • Hollow: No. This is a solid sound and does not allow urination while worn

The ring stays outside. Always.

This sound is 13.8 inches long and is not designed to be inserted to anywhere near its full length. The ring handle exists to stay outside the body at all times and to give you positive control for removal. Never insert past the point where you have a firm grip on the ring, never let go of it during use, and never wear this device unattended or fall asleep with it in place. A solid object that migrates fully into the urethra or bladder does not come back out on its own and requires surgical removal.

Before you use it

Sterilise before every single use. Boiling water or a medical-grade sterilant, no exceptions. Wash your hands thoroughly first. Use sterile water-based lubricant generously on both the sound and the opening, and reapply as you go. Never use silicone or oil-based lubricant.

Insert slowly, with the device held vertically, and let gravity do the work rather than pushing. Stop completely at any resistance. Forcing a sound past resistance is how urethral tearing and false passages happen, and both need medical treatment. If it does not go, it does not go. Try again another time with more lubricant and less depth.

Because this device is solid rather than hollow, it blocks the urethra entirely while worn. Keep sessions short and never wear it in place for extended periods.

Stop and seek medical attention if

  • You experience bleeding beyond a few drops
  • Urination becomes painful, burns, or becomes difficult after use
  • You develop discharge, fever, or lower abdominal pain
  • The device becomes stuck or you lose grip on the ring

Urinary tract infections are the most common complication of sounding and they need antibiotics, not waiting out. Never share this device between people, even after cleaning.

This is not a beginner device

If you have not used urethral sounds before, do not start here. Start with a short, smooth, single-diameter sound and build experience over months before moving to a beaded profile at this length.

Care

Wash with warm water and mild soap, then sterilise in boiling water before and after every use. Dry completely and store somewhere clean and dry.
